REQUIRED EQUIPMENT & Important Details:
Pre-CanSkate:
- Warm waterproof clothing required (e.g. snowsuit)
- CSA Hockey Helmet required—cage is optional
- Gloves required (waterproof)
- Skates—preferably with laces, not buckles or velcro
- No skate attachments

- If you are unsure of your child's skate size, please remove the insole of their skate and compare it to their foot. Skates should fit quite snugly, but not be uncomfortable.
- Skate blades should be relatively sharp to the touch. If you can run your child's skate blade across your palm without any fear of injury, they probably need to be sharpened. Ernie's in GP does affordable skate sharpening!
- At least one parent/guardian must be present in the arena at all times while their child is on the ice.
- Please note that parents are not permitted in the player's box or on the ice surface during class.


CanSkate:
- Warm clothing required (waterproof clothing recommended), please dress your children in LAYERS so they can shed some if they get too warm!

- Warm, flexible clothing required. Snowpants are optional. If wearing snowpants, skaters must still be able to lift their leg to a 90-degree angle (parallel to their hip). Please dress your skater in layers so they can shed some if they get too warm. No jeans.
- CSA Hockey Helmet required—cage is optional
- Gloves or mittens
- Figure Skates with good ankle support (i.e. skates cannot be bent in half where the top laces are)
- Skates with laces—not buckles or velcro
- Waterbottle

- Hair tied up and out of face
- No baggy clothing
- No jewellery
Other Notes:
- StarSkaters are encouraged to use the Sexsmith Skating Club dressing room underneath the bleachers on the left-hand side of the arena (directly across the rink from the player's box). There is a sign reading "Sexsmith Skating Club" located on the correct door.
